The Proposal
Kohner pulled out all the stops for a proposal that still gives her goosebumps. After a lunch date at her favorite restaurant, he brought her to a small private beach under the pretense of meeting his sister. Instead, she was met with rows of white roses, soft hydrangeas, and a sign that read Marry Me. “It was a dream,” she says. “He got down on one knee, and afterward he surprised me with a party with all our friends and family. Best day ever.”

Her gown from Sash & Bustle was a vision of modern romance: delicate spaghetti straps, a dramatic train, a bold thigh-high slit, and a long, flowing veil that added movement and drama. She completed the look with earrings from the same boutique and sparkly Dolce Vita heels.

Kohner looked timeless in a classic black suit from Tom’s Place in Toronto, and their first look—beautifully timed by Villa Planners—was emotional and grounding. “He was so excited to see me in my dress, and I was just as excited to see him,” she says. “It was a really special moment just for us.”

The Ceremony: Sunshine, Sea Breeze, and All the Feels

With clear blue skies above and the turquoise ocean sparkling in the background, the ceremony took place in the lush garden of Villa la Joya. After the ceremony, guests were welcomed into a signature cocktail hour, complete with a personalized drink cart serving two custom creations: a Pastor Margarita for the bride and a Banana Old Fashioned for the groom. A playful nod to their personalities, these bespoke cocktails were a hit—and just one of the many thoughtful touches curated by Villa Planners.

Dinner was served at long wooden tables, continuing the country garden theme with warmth and elegance. Tables were beautifully styled with lush florals, flickering candles, and detailed place settings, creating a welcoming, joyful ambiance.

As the sun set, the evening turned magical. Floating lanterns lit up the pool, and strings of lights twinkled overhead, casting a golden glow across the garden of Villa la Joya. It was dreamy, intimate, and cinematic—everything the couple had envisioned.

A sweetheart table gave the newlyweds a quiet moment to sit side by side, soaking it all in. “We looked around and saw all our loved ones laughing, eating, dancing… it brought tears to our eyes,” the bride shared.
